Sengkang GRC Hosts National Day Carnival at the CC Hardcourt on 1 August
Sengkang GRC is throwing its National Day Carnival on Saturday 1 August 2026 at the hardcourt outside Sengkang Community Club, with two timed sessions to keep the crowd manageable. Session 1 runs from 5:00pm to 7:30pm with registration from 4:45pm, and Session 2 runs from 8:00pm to 10:30pm with registration from 7:45pm. The official launch kicks off at 5:05pm sharp, which is the moment to be there if you want the full ceremony rather than just the rides.
Admission is free but entry passes are required. Sengkang GRC residents can register for up to two tickets per person and may attend only one session, a rule the organisers are enforcing to give as many residents as possible a turn. Pass collection happens at the Multi-Purpose Hall inside Sengkang CC itself, not at the hardcourt.
What is on at the carnival
The confirmed highlights on the official People's Association listing and the Sengkang CC social posts are:
- Inflatables — the bouncy-castle set-up that draws the under-10 crowd
- Carnival rides — the travelling fair rides that anchor these heartland carnivals
- Live performance — community and school performances through both sessions
- Snack booths — the usual carnival food line-up
- Door gift — one per attendee, while stocks last
The hardcourt is an outdoor venue, so the advice from the organisers is to dress comfortably, bring a water bottle, and stay hydrated. August in Singapore is still hot and humid even after sunset, and the hardcourt has no air-conditioning. Session 2 is the cooler of the two if you want to avoid the late-afternoon heat.
Why this matters for the Sengkang community
The Sengkang GRC National Day Carnival is the largest community-organised celebration in the Sengkang calendar, and it typically pulls residents from across the constituent wards: Sengkang North, Sengkang East, Sengkang Central and Buangkok. The four grassroots advisers listed on the poster are Dr Lam Pin Min, Ms Theodora Lai, Assoc Prof Dr Elmie Nekmat and Bernadette Giam, who jointly host the event.
Last year's SG60 carnival at the same hardcourt drew a full crowd across both sessions, with school performances from Anchor Green Primary, CHIJ St Joseph's Convent, Nan Chiau Primary, Seng Kang Primary and Springdale Primary, plus booths from PCF Sparkletots and Little Footprints preschools. Expect a similar line-up of school and community group performances this year, though the full programme is usually only confirmed closer to the date.
How to register and where to go
Registration is via the QR code on the official poster or through the People's Association event listing on onePA. The registration link on the Sengkang CC Instagram points to go.gov.sg/skgrcndc26-ske for the Sengkang East stream, with separate links for Sengkang North and Sengkang Central. Pick the session that suits you, register early, and bring your pass to the hardcourt on the day.
Sengkang Community Club is at 2 Sengkang Square, a short walk from Sengkang MRT (NE16) and the Sengkang LRT interchange. The hardcourt is the open space directly in front of the CC, next to Sengkang Grand Mall. If you are driving, parking is available at Sengkang Grand Mall's basement car park.
